From here on in, I'm referring to womyn who were CAMAB as simply womyn, and those who were CAFAB and 'identify' as female as ciswomen. I do this in the interests of cultural feminism, and so that ciswomen can know what it's like for a tenth of a second to have a womon say, "you are not my sister. You did not go through what I went through and never will understand." Girlhood is significant, and is forever tainted by cissexually-constructed wannabes.

Hating feminine performativity isn’t internalized misogyny. Misogyny is the hatred of females and femaleness. Femininity is a gender construct – it’s a collection of characteristics and traits that our society attaches certain stigmas too, specifically gendered stigmas that associates said attributes with being inherently for one sex. Hating the fact that patriarchy has always affiliated the least valued gendered characteristics with the least valued sex doesn’t mean that I hate actual females. By saying that hating femininity (a gender construct, a state of gender performativity) is the same as hating females (actual individuals, people of a particular sex) is to continue the patriarchal arrangement that those two things are synonymous with each other and interchangeable. That feminine equals female and female equals feminine.

Um… while hating femininity isn’t misogynistic, it’s sure as hell sexist, masculosexist to be precise, and while it doesn’t have to sit at the intersection of that and cissexism, it’s still stupid to hate it. It just is. It’s another way of controlling and enforcing ‘appropriate’ (i.e. as much like the model of the ideal man as possible) modes of behavior and presentation.

I hate the way femininity is imposed through a cissexist, heterosexist, masculosexist rubric. I hate the introduction of dangerous gendered nonsense (though masculinity has a good share of that shit). But hating femininity? Fuck that noise fabulously.

This is really interesting. And a good point, I think. Females and femininity are not synonymous. At the same time,...
